Made the BEST almond flour marble cake ever for husbands birthday. He didn’t even realize that it was made with what he likes to call “healthy” flour 🤣 I like to bake with almond flour because it has a higher protein and fat content and lower glycemic index (aka doesn’t affect blood sugars as much). It helps me make desserts that satisfy me 🙌🏻⭐️
Sullivan and I just want to wish our favorite man Happy Birthday! We are beyond blessed to call you ours. I knew you would be an amazing dad but you have blown me out of the water with how easy you have made this parent thing. You still change more diapers than I do and spend so much quality time with him, you are by far the most fun parent out of the two of us and I’m okay with that. You still get up with him at insane hours everyday and you absolutely never complain. Thanks for helping him learn and grow so much while I’m at work. I am blessed to have met you and I can’t believe God thought it fit to give me such an awesome husband. Thanks for being patient, kind, self-less, and always being up for an adventure with me. I love laughing and doing life with you, I really couldn’t do it without you 💕 Happy 30th @thechrisscott
WHERE ALL DIETITIANS AGREE. Just listened to the best continuing education presented by Orgain healthcare, “nutrition advice that all experts agree: a starting point for a vibrantly health diet.” Sharing some key points below. • • • 1. Almost 50% of fruits and vegetables consumed in America are ketchup and French fries 😳 enough said right there, the typical American diet is not something we want to be consuming 2. Higher intake of added sugar is associated with cardiovascular risk and the higher intake of added sugars in your diet contributes to less intake of beneficial nutrients in the diet (aka the added sugar displaces vitamins and minerals our body needs to function properly!) 3. Greens. Greens. Greens. In one cup of spinach you can consume 181% of your daily vitamin K need and 56% of your vitamin A need (among tons of other vitamins/minerals). Plus that one cup of spinach contains a whopping 7 calories. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables is estimated to reduce heart disease by 15%, reduce stroke risk by 27%, prevent and treat blood pressure, etc. 4. Cruciferous vegetables have a protective effect on development on colorectal cancer and prostate cancer. So go roast some Brussel sprouts or eat a cauliflower pizza 🤷♀️ Allium vegetables like garlic are antimicrobial and anti carcinogenic as well. And let’s just be honest, everything is better with some garlic! 5. Herbs and spices are full of antioxidants and clinical research shows health protective effects of a variety of herbs and spice with some of the main ones being turmeric and rosemary! Use herbs and spices instead of just salt! 6. This one is super simple: eat the right portion size! If you don’t know what a correct portion size is, contact me aka Set up a meeting with a registered dietitian. I do private nutrition counseling ☺️
So happy to be back home and whipping up my 15 minute dinners again! Featuring a @traderjoes staple in our home again = Salmon Burgers! You can also make your own salmon burgers really easily too, when I have some extra time i choose to go that route for less sodium and so Sullivan could eat them as well. Paired the salmon burger with some mini roasted red potatoes (seasoned with oregano, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper) as well as a salad with avocado and Italian dressing. Always aim for at least half your plate full of veggies and choosing a smaller sized lunch plate can aid in you feeling more satisfied post meal (visually it looks like more food than if you used a large dinner plate). Just my tip of the day for those who are focusing on weight loss.
In love with the photos that @annasamsphotography took of Sullivan’s first birthday party 😍
