Everyone is posting all these elaborate carrot recipes and I’m over here struggling to make roasted carrots as my contribution to Easter lunch. This is motherhood with a little nugget who hates to nap and loves to cling to mom. 🤷♀️ Happy Easter everyone 💕
Blessed to celebrate the risen God today with this little man. Happy 1st Easter Sullivan, I hope you grow up in awe of what Jesus has done for us and know that we serve a faithful, loving, kind, powerful, and mighty Father. • • “I give my whole life To honour this love By the Lamb who was slain I'm forgiven The sinner's Saviour Crown Him forever For the Lamb who was slain He is risen” - The Passion Hillsong Worship
My favorite @doctormeetsdietitian snack recommendation 👌🏻 cucumbers and salsa, a better-for-you swap from processed chips, popcorn, and crackers 👐🏻 side note: I’ve been MIA lately because I’m soaking in my last few days of maternity leave. On Monday I return to the work grind (aka helping save kidney function one healthy diet at a time 🤣). Send prayers I don’t cry the whole day back 😭
⭐️ Breastfeeding⭐️ the most challenging and rewarding thing I have ever done. We have successfully been exclusively breastfeeding for over 10 weeks now and I couldn’t be more proud of my body for doing what it does to nourish my baby boy. Watching him gain weight and inches like a champ makes this mommas heart SO happy. God truly designed us so perfectly. 👌🏻 • • As time consuming and draining as it feels sometimes, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. The bonding it brings with it and all the sweetest cuddle sessions -even the late night ones - I will cherish forever. Sullivan now overflows my lap and I can’t imagine what breastfeeding will look like in a few months with this chunky man. • • Everyone always talks about the benefits of maternal weight loss with breastfeeding but there are SO many more benefits to mom and baby then that! For instance - research shows that infants who are breastfed exclusively are more likely to have higher IQs and less behavioral problems (like whattttt 🤷♀️ how crazy). On a side note, no one ever mentioned to me that I might have to worry about not eating enough! I have already lost my 45 lbs of baby weight with minimal exercise and no dieting (of course). I am completely focused on not losing any more weight for fear of it reducing my milk supply, so bring on the extra portions!!!! • • • On a sad note, i am heading back to work in a week and a half and I couldn’t be more sad. I would LOVE advice from mommas who have continued to breastfeed while returning to work and kept up their milk supple while pumping at work. Send any tips my way, they would be very much appreciated. ⭐️
When I stumble upon a DELISH recipe, I have to give credit where credit is due. These Paleo Everything Bagels take 15 minutes to make and are so dang tasty! I recommend you go try them ASAP. I will be making myself homemade bagels all the time now. Perfect low carb bagel option for those of you who follow a lower carb diet but still want to satisfy a bagel craving. 👌🏻 • • The recipe uses @simplemills pizza dough mix and @traderjoes Everything But The Bagel Seasoning. Check out @rachlmansfield for the recipe!
Did you guys know that I am a Renal Dietitian? This means that I work with the people who have chronic kidney disease and require dialysis to help their kidneys filter their blood adequately. • • Renal diets are completely individualized to each patient based on their remaining kidney function and on their monthly lab reports. Being a Renal Dietitian makes me passionate about promoting kidney-healthy diets and lifestyles. • • One key way to prevent Kidney damage is to maintain a normal blood pressure. “According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), the kidney’s filtering units can be damaged when the force of blood surging through the kidneys is high.” One well-studied diet to lower blood pressure is the DASH diet, which stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension The DASH eating plan has been confirmed to lower blood pressure by lowering sodium in the diet and featuring tons of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat dairy foods, fish, poultry, beans, nuts and vegetable oils. The DASH diet is rich in potassium, magnesium and calcium—nutrients known to help lower blood pressure—and low in high fat meats and sweets. 👌🏻 • • Thinking about how much my kidneys are loving this salad as I chow down right now 💙 cheers to healthy kidneys.
