One of the top questions I get in my job is related to the many different varieties of grains and which one you should choose (aka which is the healthiest option). The nutrition labeling with bread can definitely be classified as confusing as well as difficult for customers to decipher. I am hoping this blog … Continue reading Whole Grains? Whole Wheat? Sprouted Grains? What Should You Choose?
Make sure you are eating all the fall veggies while they are in season!! 🍁🍂 Trying out new recipes is one of my favorite things to do and this stuffed acorn squash recipe was delish! I adapted the recipe a little but used The Spruce Eats “Baked Stuffed Squash With Spiced Beef and Tomatoes Recipe” for my recipe template! • • • Plus, my half of an acorn squash ended up being 4 servings of vegetables because it was so large 😍😍. All the veggiessssss.
Feeding my babe and my insatiable hunger with this slightly larger than normal dinner tonight. I swapped ground beef for turkey burgers (leaner/less fat), whole wheat burger buns instead of white buns, and broccoli slaw instead of regular slaw ✔️👌🏻 • • • Although “eating for two” is a myth, you do need some slightly bigger portion sizes to accommodate your elevated calorie needs in the second and third trimesters as well as when breastfeeding. Sometimes I’m overwhelmed with how much I need to eat but when I think about my little dude growing away in my belly, it makes all the extra meals worth it 🤣 I read the saddest thing/most shocking article today and I feel like there needs to be more attention and awareness of this term called “pregorexia.” • • Pregorexia" is a term coined by the media that refers to a woman's drive to control pregnancy weight gain through extreme dieting and exercise.” Appropriate weight gain during pregnancy is crucial for both maternal and fetal well-being. If you're pregnant and struggling with your body image, seek support and help, immediately! Once you are pregnant, it’s not about you and your self image, it’s about nurturing a human life with healthy, nourishing foods. • • • Key point: Pregnancy is definitely not the time for dieting. Cherish and love that growing bump.
Drooling over how delicious @eatbanza Mac and Cheese is!!!!! I really can’t tell that it isn’t real pasta and the cheesiness is on point! I obviously paired it with veggies for a super fiber packed nutritious lunch. If you aren’t familiar with Banza Pasta, they use chickpeas to make the pasta which contributes more fiber and protein to your meal and keeps you full longer 😍 • • • Go try now 💕💕
Leaving the beautiful mountains bright and early tomorrow with all my apple cravings fully satisfied 🍏🍎 **apple doughnut pictured above.
We are on our last trip planned before baby comes! 👶🏼Enjoying the beautiful north Georgia mountains this weekend with some of our favorite people, we are staying in a super awesome cabin with an incredible view and we ventured out yesterday to pick our own apples! I had never done this before and I am all about new experiences! 🍁🍂 • • • Did you know, Ellijay, Georgia is the Apple capital of the state? 🍎🍏 And did you know, that October is officially apple picking season? 👌🏻 I didn’t either but I learn something new everyday 😀 Each weekend a different “type” of apple is ripe for picking. This weekend the apples that were in season were: Red Rome and Granny Smith! 🍎🍏 • • • They also offered Apple Cider Slushee’s at the orchard we picked at - which were amazing! Plus, apple doughnuts are on our agenda today AND we had fresh baked apple pie last night (check out my story ✔️). I think we are going to meet our quota on adequate apple intake (vitamin C) to say the least. • • • Cheers to the beginning of fall! 💕
Curious how much food this pregnant lady has to pack to get through the day without stopping to eat fast food on her way home from work? 🤣 • • I thought it would be fun to show my lunch box contents today that have been helping keeping me consuming “healthier” options throughout the work day. I have always practiced small consistent meals/snacks throughout the day and that has just increased during pregnancy. Consistent meals throughout the day helps keep your blood sugar stable and helps you avoid getting so hangry that you want to stop at Mickey D’s 🙃 • • • What’s in your lunch box today?
